Delicious Apple slices Recipe
Apple slices with jam and icing sugar.
Ingredients
Airy apple slices with buttermilk
600 grams of wheat flour
75 grams of cane sugar
1 stick of vanilla (as fat and delicious as you can find it) - can be replaced by 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla powder
800 ml buttermilk
3 eggs
2 teaspoons baking soda
½ tsp cardamom
1 pinch of fine salt
100 grams of butter (melted)
More butter (or neutral oil) for frying
Accessories
Marmalade – e.g. hind or strawberry
Powdered sugar
Direction:
The apple slice dough,
Separate eggs into egg whites and yolks in separate bowls. Beat the egg whites stiff.
Stir egg yolks, buttermilk, sugar and vanilla together. Add the flour, baking soda, cardamom and salt and stir to form a homogeneous mass. Pour in the melted butter and stir again.
Finally, egg whites are poured into the apple slice dough, and carefully folded in so you don't knock the air out of the egg whites.
Baking apple slices,
Heat your apple slice iron well over medium heat, put a small pat of butter (or a little bit of neutral oil) in each hole, and fill the holes about 3/4 full with apple slice dough. You can advantageously pour your apple slice dough into a ketchup bottle or similar, so that it is easier to control the amount of dough.
Let the dough fry until it is firm at the bottom and golden at the edges and then flip it by sticking a skewer into the apple slice and turning it around. Let it cook until done. The total baking time for an apple slice is approx. 4-5 minutes.
Repeat until all the apple slices are baked, serve them with jam and icing sugar.
